Floor Checks for All - developed by Tian Dayton as part of the Relational Trauma Repair Model, Floor Checks are beneficial as a group-as-a-whole assessment tool and are frequently used by psychodramatists, community organizers, and other group workers. Floor Checks are an action-based group tool used to access the power of the group and cultivate mutual aid, fostering each participant's ability to be a therapeutic agent for one another.
To reach the inner states wherein trauma is held, we must move beyond Talk Therapy. Neurobiological research reveals the importance of approaching trauma through the body as well as the mind. This dual approach can challenge treatment centers invested in training staff and creating safety for all. Sociometrics are psychoeducational processes that make bringing experiential work into treatment programming measured, safe, and effective. Floor Checks are gender-neutral, culturally sensitive, action-based group tools teaching subjects such as trauma, grief, and resilience while providing an interpersonal and community healing process. Floor Checks provide therapists with clear processes to build momentum toward change, teach skills of emotional regulation and literacy, and foster more focused, contained work. Dr. Dayton further uses Attachment Trauma and Resilience Timelines and Social Atoms to hone the path of developmental trauma and provide a context. In combination, Relational Trauma Repair ~ Sociometrics provide processes for both group and one-to-one therapy to create therapeutic frameworks used as maps for healing.
